RMH PTA 2020-2021 Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for taking an interest in volunteering at Rose Mary Haggar. There are countless opportunities to get involved throughout the school year, whether it be weekly, monthly, last minute, or even through taking materials home. Take the time to review the various volunteer opportunities below. When you are ready to sign up log in to your account. You will find the Volunteer sign up in the store. Just check the box of any of the slots you would like to volunteer and you will be contacted by the PTA chair for how to get started.
Please remember, in order to volunteer, you must complete a background check by clicking on PISD Annual Volunteer Application. This must be completed each year prior to volunteering at the school.

Volunteer Opportunities Description:
Room Parent: Room parents assist with class parties (Winter Party, Valentine’s Day Party, and End of Year Party). Room parents may also be contacted throughout the year by the grade level teachers to ask for materials assistance, or to coordinate with other parents within the class.
Photographer: Do you like to take pictures of your child with his/her friends? This is a flexible volunteer position. The grade photographer(s)will help collect pictures to be added into the yearbook.
Field Day: Field Day is a truly unique and fun event. This event takes place in the late Spring, usually on a Friday, in the morning or mid-day. The coaches are in need of parent volunteer to help make Field Day a success. You don’t want to miss out on this event!
Green Team/Landscaping: Do you have a green thumb? Then this volunteer opportunity might be the best fit for you. You will be contacted throughout the year when needed in order to help water the plants (usually in the summer), and help bring creative ideas when needed.
Book Fair: This event takes place twice a year (Fall/Spring). Mrs. Grizzle needs your help to bring students down from their classes, help them select their books, and return the students back to class. Times and days are flexible and any time you can give is greatly appreciated.
Mariner Merchant Fleet: Do you have connections in the community to share with the school PTA? PTA is always looking for ways to bridge community partnerships.
Materials Helper: Cutting, laminating, stapling…. Help your teachers create fun and exciting projects for your kids! Come on your own time throughout the year, head to the workroom, and check your grade level box for materials that need to be completed.
Materials Helper- AT HOME: If you can’t find time during the day, some materials can be taken home and returned to school when the project is completed. Ask your grade level head, room parent, or teacher for more information.
On-Line Auction: If interested in helping with the annual on-line auction, let our PTA know!
Hearing/Vision Screenings: The school nurse can use your help taking students to and from the nurse’s station for each student’s hearing and vision screening. This takes place in the Fall.
Picture Day: Pictures are taken a few times a year. Help bring the students to and from the picture station. Parents that volunteer, typically 7:45 until 11, receive a set of basic pictures for FREE.
Student Mentor: Volunteer to help our students get that extra boost of help needed during the day by becoming a mentor for our students.
Main Office Assistance: The office staff from time to time can use your help. This may include filing, sorting, organizing, and more.
Fairs/Competitions: RMH hosts a variety of fairs and events throughout the year, such as Reflections, History Fair, and Science Fair. Parents are needed to help judge the events. Sign up to help while also getting to enjoy seeing how creative and talented our students can be.
Color Run/Haggar Howdy: Volunteer to help set up, run a booth, and clean up.
Movie Night: Help with set up, directing parents the night of, and clean up.
Spring Fling: Help with set up, running a booth, and clean up.
