Captains are family volunteers who spend a school day at Haggar as active partners:
welcoming students at carpool, leading small-group practice, helping teachers in the workroom, and supporting lunch, recess, and dismissal.

Your day as a Captain
| 7:15 a.m. |
Check in at the front office. Pick up your badge and schedule for the day. |
| 7:20–7:40 a.m. |
Morning carpool. Direct traffic, welcome students, and help younger students. |
| 7:40–7:45 a.m. |
Announcements. Get introduced on the morning announcements. |
| 20 minutes |
Classroom time. Join your child for the morning routine. |
| 30 minutes |
Hallway breakout. Lead small-group practice, using materials the teacher provides. |
| 20–60 minutes |
Workroom and break. Help with copying, laminating, and project prep, plus time for your own break. |
| 30 minutes |
Lunch. Help students open food items, monitor tables, and clean up. |
| 30 minutes |
Recess. Run games and help keep the playground safe. |
| 30 minutes |
Afternoon and dismissal. Help with specials, centers, or classroom prep, then close the day at dismissal carpool. |
Times after 7:45 vary by grade level. You’ll get your exact schedule at check-in.

Captain expectations
| Badge on. Check in at the front office, attend a quick 5-minute briefing, and wear your Captain badge all day. |
| Phones away. Keep your phone silenced and put away while you’re with students. You’ll have break time to check messages. |
| Every student counts. In small groups and on duty, engage with all students equally, not just your own child. |
| Keep it confidential. What you see about other students stays at school and isn’t shared with other parents. |
| Volunteer time only. Captain days aren’t for parent-teacher conferences, so save questions about your child’s progress or behavior for another time. |
